The f*cking thing was almost verbatim from the Niles Standish Caulk
sketch on Crank Yankers. Comedy Central should sue.

O&A were doing a similar bit on their old WNEW show before Crank
Yankers ever happened.

I'm pretty sure people have been doing 'caulk' jokes ever since it was
invented...

Ah, but do you ever just outright steal caulk and then joke about it
later? Ah-HA!

Actually, not entirely true. I have a recorded bit I wrote with a friend
about a fictional New England HandyMan named 'Boston Bob'.

Our sketch, which aired in Pennsylvania in 1998 - was a dead ringer for
their sketch - but we had funnier lines..

"Boston Bob is having a tent sale. I'm pitching a tent, and filling it
with Caulk"

"You have your variety of Caulks, White, Yellow, Brown, but sometimes you
need to get your hands on some good Black Caulk"

"Hi, I'm Boston Bob. I've got so much Caulk here, it's coming out of my
ears".

"And ladies, it's not just for men anymore. Women should learn to handle
Caulk jobs too. It's an invaluable skill!"

When I saw that sketch, my jaw dropped... However, the fact that they
didn't use a New England accent (which makes the word even sound funnier)
tells me they didn't rip it off from us.

I will be posting it in a few days so you guys can hear it.... Obviously,
we weren't able to get too racy for the radio spots, but, we wrote pages
of one-liners for future spots...

Which makes it particularly sad that SNL thought to do it. I (as well
as everyone else, most likely) could see this one coming 3 seconds into
the sketch, no pun intended.

Dean Johnson on PBS' 'Hometime' made a joke about caulk sometime in
1992. I think Robin (Hartl) even seductively stroked the caulk tube with
her fingers and even seductively used a single finger to get the very
last bead of caulk off the tip of nozzle and winked at Johnson. :-o

God, that Robin Hartl is a f**king dog-slut! lol

Actually, I debate you on that issue. I think they just may have been
able to get away with a word like "cork suckers". Possibly. Hmm... dunno
(?). Now I'm not so sure. lol Ah, I've lost interest already. Nevermind.

Colonel Angus is an original...............SNL did come up with that and
having Christopher Walken do it was hilarious.
I made an mpeg out of it and keep it on my computer.

Aw come on guys ... is it so much that a joke sounds similar against
how it's told? ;) SNL writers might have used a few as a basis for a
joke, but they never played it out the exact same way. They put their
own twist on it. And how many comedians/sitcoms/series HAVEN'T 'used'
(if you would call it that) an idea in this very same way? It's not
what material is performed, it's HOW it's performed.
